How can large numbers of photovoltaic systems be monitored more efficiently while reducing time and operational costs? Spanish engineering firm Ylio Sustainable Engineering demonstrates how the centralized monitoring platform Mondas PV simplifies monitoring processes, saves valuable time, and significantly improves information quality for customers.

The Challenge

Based in Seville, Ylio Sustainable Engineering designs, installs, and operates a wide range of commercial and industrial (C&I) photovoltaic systems across Spain. Its portfolio includes rooftop solar installations, ground-mounted solar parks, and floating PV systems ranging from 50 kWp to 2 MWp.

As the number of customer installations continued to grow, operations and maintenance management became increasingly complex. Multiple monitoring platforms had to be managed in parallel, data retrieval was largely manual, and reporting processes required considerable effort. Automation capabilities were virtually non-existent, resulting in inefficient and time-consuming workflows.

Why Mondas PV

Ylio initially considered standardizing data collection through additional hardware. However, retrofitting existing installations would have required substantial investment and increased project complexity.

Instead, the company selected Mondas PV, a centralized monitoring platform that integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure. As a first step, 75 PV systems were connected to the platform.

With Mondas PV, Ylio can now centrally monitor and analyze all connected photovoltaic systems, regardless of inverter manufacturer or monitoring source.

One Platform Instead of Fragmented Systems

Before implementing Mondas PV, daily operations were characterized by:

  • Large numbers of alarm notifications via email

  • Manual logins to multiple manufacturer portals

  • Significant effort for data analysis

  • Fragmented monitoring environments

Today, Mondas PV replaces this fragmented landscape with a single centralized platform that consolidates all relevant information in one place.

Greater Transparency for Operators and Customers

With Mondas PV, both system operators and end customers benefit from:

  • Continuous access to live operational data

  • Intuitive dashboards instead of static reports

  • Ongoing transparency regarding performance and energy yield

Information is no longer limited to monthly or quarterly reports but is available virtually in real time.

Faster Fault Detection and More Efficient Operations

One of the key advantages of Mondas PV is its advanced fault detection capability. Operational issues are identified earlier and can be resolved more quickly.

Customers can independently monitor and analyze their PV systems, while the Ylio operations team only intervenes when targeted access to specific components is required. This significantly reduces routine monitoring effort and improves overall operational efficiency.

Testimonials

With Mondas PV, we were able to significantly simplify our monitoring processes and reduce the associated workload by 60%. Our customers even congratulated us on the introduction of PVisto.

Monitoring Effort Reduced by 60%

The impact became apparent shortly after implementation. Ylio reduced the time required for monitoring and reporting activities by 60%.

Today, the team can immediately identify which installations require attention, while reporting processes are faster, more structured, and less labor-intensive. The time saved can now be invested in closer customer support and higher-value engineering services.

No Additional Hardware Required

A major advantage of the Mondas solution is its ability to integrate existing infrastructure.

Mondas PV connects directly to available data sources, eliminating the need for additional hardware, gateways, or modifications to existing systems. This significantly reduces implementation effort and operational complexity.

Especially for existing installations, avoiding additional capital expenditure proved to be a decisive benefit.

Positive Outcome

By implementing Mondas PV, Ylio significantly simplified its monitoring and operational processes while improving the quality of system analysis.

Today, the platform provide:

  • Centralized, manufacturer-independent monitoring

  • Highly automated analysis of system data

  • Early fault detection and faster response times

According to Ylio CEO Dr. José Miguel Carmona Ampuero, the decision to implement Mondas PV not only streamlined day-to-day operations but also created the foundation for future growth:

»The more we work with this innovative software platform from Mondas, the more opportunities we discover to further simplify our operations. We would choose Mondas PV again at any time. «, concludes the founder and CEO of Ylio Sustainable Engineering.
